CME: Mastering the Principles of Motivational Interviewing

Training Description:

The Motivational Interviewing approach has been researched extensively in diverse settings, including primary care, mental health, addictions, education, and facilities under the Department of Corrections. Continuously evolving MI strategies have necessitated ongoing education for all types of healthcare workers.

This 3.5-hour online course is designed to help a variety of behavioral health professionals interested in learning the basic MI principles to translate that knowledge into practice. There are two parts to the training with instructions for practice between Part 1 and Part 2. The modules will review the four processes, spirit of MI, person-centered communications skills, change and sustain talk, approaches to people who are “resistant” to change, practice activities and recommendations for continuous learning.
