Trauma Informed Screening, Assessment, and Crisis Response Two-Part Training: Trauma Informed Screening and Assessment

This is a two-part training. Upon registering, you will automatically be enrolled in both the 11/2 and 11/4 sessions.

Training Description:

Part 1: Discussing trauma can be challenging but providing screening in a trauma-informed manner will help the counselor and client develop a common understanding of the connection between their trauma and the issues they may be facing in the present. This approach will support a safe counselor-client relationship, provide effective services, and promote improved outcomes. In this training, we will examine trauma-informed techniques for collecting information about individuals and their families through the process of screening and assessment. Participants will learn about the principles of trauma-informed screening and assessment and will be given the opportunity to put these principles into practice.

Training Objectives:

After participating in this training, including Part 1 and Part 2, participants will be able to provide trauma-informed care during the screening and assessment process as well as during times when the client may exhibit challenging behaviors.  By enhancing the staff’s ability to provide trauma-informed screening and assessment and strengthening their ability to safely manage challenging behaviors we hope to improve the quality of care provided to those with trauma histories.
