Secondary Trauma & Supervision Two-part Training: Providing Trauma Informed Supervision

This is a two-part training. Upon registering, you will automatically be enrolled in both the 12/7 and 12/9 sessions.

Training Description:

A trauma-informed environment feels safe and welcoming to everyone. The way that staff members treat each other affects that environment and the people being served. Supervision should model the characteristics of a healthy empowering relationship so that staff members can develop similar relationships with the people being served. In this training, we will review the principles of trauma-informed supervision, discuss how to apply these principles, and practice trauma-informed supervision techniques.

Training Objectives:

At the end of this training participants will be able to:

    1. Define secondary trauma
    2. Describe symptoms of secondary trauma
    3. Identify ways of coping with secondary trauma
    4. Identify strategies for developing resilience
    5. Describe the five guiding principles of trauma-informed supervision
  1. Apply the five guiding principles to supervision
  2. Describe the differences between daring and armored leadership

Licensed Social Worker This program has been approved for 2.5 Social Work Continuing Education hours for re-licensure, in accordance with 258 CMR. NASW-MA Chapter CE Approving Program, Authorization Number D 91492-5.
Licensed Psychologist CE credits for psychologists are provided by the Spiritual Competency Academy (SCA) which is co-sponsoring this program. MA Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor This course has been approved by the Department of Public Health, Bureau of Substance Abuse Services/LADC Unit for 2.75 contact hours for Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors and Assistants.
MA Registered Nurse Program meets the requirements for nursing contact hours as specified by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing 244 CMR 5.04.
MA Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist This activity has been certified by NEAFAST on behalf of the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Allied Mental Health & Human Services Professions, for LMFT professional continuing education. Certification #PC-041693.
