Common Medical Comorbidities in Youth

Training Description:

The aim of this training is to increase clinicians’ and mental health professionals’ knowledge about key medical conditions and complications of youth, so they can make appropriate referrals for medical and psychiatric care, and effectively communicate across levels of care to expediently refer youth that need that need to be evaluated for further medical work up.

Training Objectives:

After participating in this training participants will be able to:

  1. Apply best practice care for medical screening of youth presenting with behavioral health emergencies
  2. Describe youth with low medical risk to triage to the appropriate psychiatric level of care
  3. Assess youth presenting behavioral health emergencies with moderate and high risk of medical complications to appropriately refer for further medical workup

MA Registered Nurse Program meets the requirements for nursing contact hours as specified by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing 244 CMR 5.04
