Dialectical Behavioral Therapy – Skills Portion

Training Description:

This online training is 4 hours and will include an Overview of the History, Development, and Rationale for DBT Skills Training including: Biosocial Theory of Borderline Personality Disorder, Trauma Responsive Elements of DBT, and Cross-Cultural Practice Considerations. Also, Review of Four Core Skills Modules Content including Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness.

Training Objectives:

After participating in this training participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the rationale for teaching DBT skills, including who is a good candidate to benefit from the treatment
  2. Identify the four core skills modules taught in a DBT skills setting: Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation & Interpersonal Effectiveness
  3. Structure a teaching intervention for skills, both individually and in groups
